Fundamentals of education. Let´s move forward on the road!

Primary education is a stage aimed at providing students with an active and experiential learning environment that allows them to be initiated in the acquisition of basic competences and in the construction of their foundations as a person. +One of the important aspects of this stage, continuing on from the educational approach started in the early-childhood stage, is the acquisition of good work habits and coexistence practices, which contribute to the develoopment of a comprehensive education which is founded in values.

Self-knowledge: What am I like?

All primary students draft their own personal plan, in which they specify their goals and the actions that will help them to develop in relation to two fundamental axes: self-esteem and self-knowledge. +These are two important aspects that play an active role in the learning process and personal growth. In primary we do continuous individualized evaluation of the learning process for each boy and girl, and they, in turn, do their own self-evaluation.
Using different tools, such as the student´s personal plan and feedback by teachers, the students develop self-knowledge that will help them to monitor their learning and to achieve satisfactory performance.

Self-regulation: How do I learn?

The type of learning that we do in primary is active and based in the child´s experiences, which makes it meaningful. + Starting from their closest surroundings, the knowledge they acquire, and their own experiences, they learn to bring into play different abilities that help them to develop their own competence and solidify the foundations of their learning. For this reason, we believe that it is very important to stimulate their curiousity and ability to ask authentic questions so as to be able to begin to develop their capacity for management of construction of knowledge from a creative perspective.
The basic competences that the children have to achieve are organized in didactic sequences, and worked on in various learning spaces and groupings that favor their internalization: spaces for routines and systematization through workshops; globalized and interdisciplinary learning spaces via PBL (learning based in projects and real challenges) and specialty spaces.
We make use of technology that is integrated invisibly into the daily life of the school, which allows us to create lessons and share them in a completely motivational way, in which the students can become creators and not only users.

Participation in school life

The children play an active and fundamental role in the life of the school. In this way, we take advantage of the dynamics that we establish to give them a leading role, Tasks that contribute to making a better school and to increasing their involvement, participation, self-reliance, and responsibility. +We understand that learning in service is a key tool to empower the development of their abilities and to promote internalization and consolidation of the learning done. For this reason, we facilitate varied situations and groupings to stimulate this.

Family involvement: All for one!

We believe that the role of fathers and mothers is basic in a child´s education. As a result, their active involvement is essential, and we facilitate this by working together and providing learning spaces and communities. +Thus, we believe it is very important that parents stimulate their child´s curiosity for things and activities, so as to be able to have enriching and motivating experiences to promote an open and enjoyable attitude towards learning. Tutors and family meet quarterly to ensure educational coherence between family and school, both individually between tutors and parents, and in group meetings of parents.
